Working Group Thermoplastic Composites

The “Thermoplastic Composites” working group deals with all issues relating to the processing of continuous fiber-reinforced thermoplastics. The entire process chain is considered, from the input materials fiber and matrix, through semi-finished product production and the component manufacturing process, to final processing. This also includes the application-specific modification of matrix systems and the processing of carbon fibers and alternative reinforcing fibers in different basic textile structures. The WG is divided into two sub-working groups on the topics of “Automotive” and “Aerospace”, in each of which industry-specific concerns are given greater consideration. Current topics are the development of cost-effective blends with tailored thermomechanical properties for structural components, process automation, the integration of intelligent tools in the processing, process hybridization, process control and cost reduction along the entire process chains.
